OUR
INITIATIVE
In 2018, Rainforest Alliance signed an agreement with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to develop in Mexico the Global Development Alliance ), «Alliance for Sustainable Landscapes and Markets». In this agreement, we work to enhance sustainable forestry and agricultural activities and products, in collaboration with Mexican partners in four Mexican states.
This initiative was created to reduce deforestation and expand forest conservation and restoration in productive landscapes at high risk of deforestation in the states of Campeche, Quintana Roo, Chiapas and Oaxaca, in addition to increasing the economic viability of the commercialization of products produced following best practices and strengthening the resilience of producers in the rainforests.
WHAT DO WE WANT TO ACHIEVE?
Solutions that meet the needs and priorities of the communities in Mexico for a sustainable production of agricultural, timber and non-timber forest products.
HOW WE WANT TO ACHIEVE IT
SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS 2030
A growing alliance...
We know that today more companies are interested in changing their value chains towards more sustainable sources, that there are many groups of small producers that seek to access formal markets, and many of us pursue to improve our consumption habits towards more responsible decisions, so that it has a positive impact on both, producers and nature.
That is why we have created Markets for a Sustainable Future, because we believe that the world needs the actions of everyone to build a future in which people and nature thrive in harmony.
Today our alliance is growing and adding more partners and allies with actions that bring us closer to the world we want to live in.
